What is the best role for Dad during labor?

Consider dad's role

We usually think of Dad as the "coach." In some cases he may be great at talking you through tough contractions and offering lots of verbal encouragement, but others may be better at offering quite support, such as hair stroking, offering water, etc., or even tending to the older children. Don't assume that there is only one right way for dad to offer support.

dad role is morethan taking care of the others while mom goto the hospital. he should be in the hospital with mom during child birth, research has shown that dad in the birh room reduces the amount of caesarin esction and the need for pain medication so why not allow him in. it allows for the bonding process to commence between dad and baby and not only between mother and child. dad should be included in everything. too long we have planned care onpy for the mother especially in the antenatal clinics. i know it may be hard for dads to get time off from work but we could structur ethe clinic to allow dad to the lamaze classes adn clinic and be educated before birth so he would know what to expect when he goes into the hospital.
