Stripping The Membranes
Stripping the membranes in a pregnant woman means that her doctor will strip away the membranes from the cervix just inside the uterus. This is done to help bring on labor. The doctor does this with her fingers. Usually after stripping the membranes, the cervix will dilate and efface and the uterus will start contracting. This may take a couple of days to work.

I resurched this method and thought it sounded great. I'm 40wks now and have had an aweful pregnancy from day one, so i'm now at the stage where i'll try anything (safe for baby) to get her out! Weeks of rasberry leaf tea, pineapple by the truck load, sex, walking miles everyday, cleaning like a mad woman, hot curries then finally i asked my midwife to strip the membranes. Typically this too has not worked! She preformed this on friday and as it's now monday i've completely lost hope. I really want to beleive there is something that truly works but I've reluctantly come to the conclution that babies really do only come when they're ready. It is now my belief that any woman that thinks any of the above methods do work, that it's completely down to coincidence and their baby was genuinly ready anyway.... Lucky buggars!

I had my membranes stripped yesterday at 38 weeks dialated at one for about two weeks. Hasn't worked yet either. Got the blood and stuff but no water breakage yet. So i know how you feel. :) hang in there!!!

I had 1 done on tuesday its now approaching midnight so almost 2 days had a few niggly dull aches nothing wen the doctor did it she said it was rather easy as baby was laying low enough that she could feel its head and i was 2 cm dialated so hopefully fingers crossed baby should arrive very soon.
